I went in with trepidation due to some reviews I had read about politics and some other complaints. I found them to be fairly unfair. The dystopian aspect of a ruin economy has to be brought about somehow, the politics if anything were sort of balanced by Z’s dad. Funny thing is, just like his dad, the politics are very minor as far as their prevalence, or bearing, on the story.

The meat of the story is in game, with character funding and I suppose a small amount of disposition being political. If you’re a salty pre digis old devil dog you’ll enjoy this, if you wear/wore Marpat you’ll still enjoy it. If you were going to join, but would hit a DI if they got in your face…grow up, but you’ll still enjoy it. If you enjoy the in-game aspect of litRPG, and the elusion to digital afterlife like I do, you’ll enjoy it.

Basically, if you don’t take the honestly fairly minor politics to heart, you’ll enjoy it. The performance was good, not exceptional as far as how many distinct characters that sound like different people, but good in intonation, flow, and emotion with enough voice variation to know the difference between characters. I have no regrets about picking this book up for free, and would happily buy the rest.
