I wanted to like this book, but I did not. The characters, except for Chris, are unsympathetic and unlikable. Even the cranky baby, Calla-Ruby-Juliet is a pain. The villain is beyond bad and the stereotype of the lustful devil man of God we’ve seen so many times before. Big holes in the plot are never resolved, such as why nobody called attention to the girl with a baby. This book wants to be a thriller, but it comes off as just unpleasant.
