On its surface, this is a well written book with an interesting yet uncomfortable subject matter. I couldn’t stop listening. Well told.

HOWEVER, this is a FICTIONAL story and although many will say, “This happens in real life!”, I would like to argue that NO not EXACTLY like this. This story is not real. The meth selling, gangster dead beat pedo is written with a heart of gold. He’s a magical pedo. He’s so sweet and caring and he loves Wavy and he protects her. Yeah okay… he’s clearly a murderer with a temper that has no problem doing bad things. No, in “real life” this man would not be “a good man”. He’s make believe.

I can get behind the reasons why Wavy feels the way she does towards him. It’s at no fault of her own. She’s had a hard and abused life. He’s the one who cares for her. She naturally gravitates to him. She see’s all the way everyone else in her life is sexualized and to her it just is something you do.

Do not be deceived. This book is trying to pull at your heart strings and make you empathize and defend an adult man loving a 14 year old girl. “Love is love. Am I right?”. This is a FICTIONAL story. This is not real life. In the story, Kellen is the magical, beautiful soul written to make you empathetic towards adult men loving young girls. This story plays out in way that makes you care for all the characters and honestly, in the end you want to see them together.

Just enjoy the story for what it is. But just a story. Don’t sympathize with this sort of thing. It’s okay to be uncomfortable reading this. It’s meant to make you question your judgement.
