This post apocalyptic book is a little different than most because current politics and events are brought in. Hopefully readers will keep an open mind through the political parts. If that bothers you, then you can always remember that it is fictional writing.
The story centers around Grayson, a prepper, who has long tried to prepare his family for what to do if an event should take place and what to have on hand. There are several flash forwards that we will find out in the series but I wanted more for this first book. It was over when I really felt like it was just starting but you can also take that as being an enjoyable quick read. Grayson is alone when he finds himself with no power and no way to communicate with the rest of his family who are on vacation, at college, etc. We get to follow some of the characters and learn of their trials, strengths and weaknesses while the author leaves other areas open to learn about in additional books.
Kevin Pierce does an outstanding job narrating this adventure. His cadence and sincerity contributed tons to my enjoyment of this book. Checking today, the Audible version is not available for book two but is available on Kindle. I was given this free copy for my honest review. If you laugh at preppers then this book may open your eyes to the value of being prepared – now.
