This book screams 80’s from beginning to end. Montages, breaking the fourth wall, video game refeeences, and lots of dick jokes. Sounds like a great idea for a book! Nothing could possibly go wrong!
I got a majority of the references and just couldn’t enjoy this book. It was constantly hitting me over the head with pop culture references and a teenage level of romance. The only reason I finished this book was because I felt obligated by the free credit for a review.
Overall the story was cookie cutter, the humor felt like one long Family Guy joke that went on for too long, and the fourth wall dialog was more annoying than funny.
If you like the author and enjoy pop culture, I’d give this a go. Just not my cup of tea.
