I really enjoyed the first book. The insane world building, the loopy characters Carl and Doughnut, the great reading by Jeff Hays, all of this was great.
This sequel has no plot other than Carl and Doughnut running from one quest to another. They don’t grow as characters. Jeff Hays is still doing a great job reading. But this story is just not good. Its a lot of action where Carl and Doughnut are saved time after time in some last second nail biting out of left field.
When I see an average rating of 4.9 for a title in Audible, I would like to think that this is close to a masterpiece. Carl’s Doomsday Scenario is definitely no where close to a masterpiece.
