I enjoyed this book overall but it really felt like the characters were stuck in a pinball game. They spent the whole story just bouncing wildly from one location to the next and from one catastrophe to the next without ever getting a chance to really flesh out the setting or characters they met along the way. That frenetic movement did suit the ‘scramble to solve the mystery’ theme of the book, but it left me feeling like I missed half the story. Not bad overall, but I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the other books from this author. I did get a kick out of the blend of usefulness and irreverence for religion expressed by the characters.
