Generic fantasy romance =/

I felt like this entire book was balancing off one generic fantasy troupe after the next. It wasn’t incredibly inventive or new or exciting. I never expect every book to reinvent the wheel but its especially annoying when you read a book that is so copy/paste of every fantasy romance book that you nearly feel like you’ve read it before.

Everything was so stereotypical of what you’d expect from these characters. The 2 main characters are exactly what you’d expect, a brooding dark mysterious mean bad boy and a virginal mysterious good boy. It alludes to them being mysterious but they arnt at all when they are copies of fantasy character troupes you’ve seen before.

The world building is sorta boring, the tension is not believable and the action just never felt natural. I feel like the book was trying its best to tell a story but couldn’t decide on the best approach so it settled on relying on readers to understand troupes.

I feel bad for not liking this book but its so painfully mediocre that i am not at all interested in continuing in this series.
