Constant perspective changes drag these books down quite a bit. Kind of feels like the author got criticized for his main character being overpowered in the first two books and took it too far in the other direction for 3 and 4. Both of these books are much darker than the first two. The 4th book especially falls for some tropes and cringe moments of writing a book about a young wizard in a wizard school.
