What’s Left of My World is a great start to a new PA survival series. It follows Lauren a tough 18 year old, her family and her friends. The world has changed, The power is out and survival at any cost is now the law of the land. This is the plot of most PA books and this one isn’t really much different except its focus is mainly on one family their friends and the community they have built and will do what they have to protect. This book has shadowy government agencies with what seems to be some evil intent, people who are willing to do anything to survive and a Biker gang which is enjoying the apocalypse and taking advantage of all the opportunities it offers them.
I really like the character interaction and community aspect of this book and how they work together to get things done and protect themselves and each other. There are a lot of flash backs in the book but I think they work pretty well and fill in a lot about the characters especially Lauren her Dad and her grandmother. There is a lot of action, mystery, danger and some really awful people doing some really awful things, for some it might be hard to stomach some of it.
The narration by Kevin Pierce is amazing and the book is worth a listen just for this. I think his voice and style was tailor made for these PA survival stories and he does them very well. If you like PA survival stories you will definitely like this one and would recommend giving it a shot. I definitely am interested in reading other books in the series to see how things end up, relationships progress, if Lauren’s Dad ever shows up and what the Government is up too.
