I’m struggling to find good litrpg/gamelit, and have recognized how hard the struggle is to identify reviews that help separate the great from the good from the bad.
This series (of 2 so far), suffers from an OP protagonist. I’m largely unsure how exactly I want to qualify that statement, because I don’t find anything unnecessarily unbalanced about an assassin class. It’s kinda like the author wrote the elf as 20 lvls higher than the rest, never giving any sense of scale in terms of power to balance it out. Added bonus being that he’s also a mage(?). Most MMOs don’t multiclass assassins and mages, so I’m confused about how that worked out but there it is.
I’m unsure how to provide this without spoiling plot, but a certain cast member dies very unnecessarily after everyone puts on their stupid cap and that left a super sour taste for the 2nd book. I don’t want to let that color my review since they weren’t a primary cast member, but stuff like that kills my enjoyment.
That said, I love the story on the outside world, and think the overall plot and rest of the cast does very well to minimize the drow’s enjoyment pollution.
