Would love to give this a 2 thumbs up. I can’t. It’s a good story and I do like the story of the Mad Mick… but i just couldn’t get past the one of the character… the daughter of the Mad Mick gets down right obnoxious for no reason. There’s a pretentiousness about her and she doesn’t get along with anyone. No depth to her. I mean let’s face it character development in stories like these isn’t a huge factor when it comes to the story… but Barb is a frustrating train wreck… here anger has no basis or back story… in comparison to her persona in the first novel, she’s just a seething mess of anger that doesn’t nothing to aid the story. If she were vulnerable or her anger were more realistic the. i think i wouldn’t care, but the fact is she just became a caricature. Good story and i like the series, just couldn’t get over this character… i don’t think making her more genuine, less hard and obnoxious would have take. away from her ability and badassery… it’s why i can’t give it a better rating… narrators Irish accent is gone from the first few stories where it was better… tolerable… overall good listen..Kevin Pierce is okay… no RC Bray, but a fun ride nonetheless…
