I really wanted to like this book. The premise sounded interesting, but it didn’t hold my attention. To be honest, I got lost in the bad narration. His voice was actually kind of pleasing, and he read well enough throughout the strictly narrated parts, but his dialogue between characters was sorely lacking. For one thing, all voices sounded the same. There was no voice inflection whatsoever. But to make matters worse, it was like he was snapping out the words, almost like a kid defending himself against another kid. I don’t really know how to explain it other than to say that his pacing was very off. It totally ruined how I was picturing the story, made the writing feel juvenile. I couldn’t finish.
