This is the second Jack Hunt book I’ve listened to, both narrated by Kevin Pierce, and while I love post-apocalyptic fiction I don’t think I’ll be listening to anymore. It’s nothing personal, I think he narration was good and the writing decent, I just had a difficult time connecting with the characters. I felt the same way after the first audiobook, but since I like apocalyptic fiction thought it might be a fluke and was willing to give it another try. After finishing this one, I have to say it might just be that his writing isn’t for me. It’s a personal thing since I typically do better connecting to characters when the writing is done in first person.
Having said that, I appreciated the scenario in the book and it was nice to step out of the normal virus/zombie apocalypse (even though I love those), and think there’s no reason other people who enjoy apocalyptic fiction wouldn’t like DAYS OF PANIC. If you’re like me and love end of the world books, I say give it a shot. You never know if it’s the right story for you until you try!
