So I did like the story and the magic system but the constant harsh foul language and sexual descriptions of the female character took me out of the story. Both of these issues just seem to be scattered throughout the story without a purpose. They don’t drive the story. Some of the language I do understand since I believe the author is trying to capture how he believes a combat vet would talk. I have been to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers do curse a lot but with reason. They also try not to in inappropriate places. These characters just don’t care. The sexual descriptions just became a distraction. The pacing was also choppy in my opinion. I have thought long about if I would continue the series and believe I might. So not a bad book but it could have been better IMO
