It’s teen writing with an ok story line. The narrator does ok with some voices, but with most, it’s literally difficult to tell if it’s being read by a machine. Many are devoid of all realistic expression while others are droning and nasally. It’s a decent value for 10 average books that could likely be shortened to 8 if the editor cut out every time the writer used the words ‘ smirk’ or ‘ sadistic’. Apparently, those are literally the only two descriptors the writer knew. ( he died with a smirk, she fought with a smirk, they cried with a smirk.. They ate with sadistic smirks..) If you can overlook that eye rolling annoyance, it’s OK and even leaves room for more smirking books in the future.
