This is an unfortunate case where the dialogue got in the way of the story. The story starts off interesting, albeit with an obvious direction. It begins with a female lead not content with her “life quest”, despite the foreboding nature of the simple task being categorized as “Legendary”. Along the way she links up with a fellow villager, who she did not really know growing up. He is tasked with the heroic deed to slay a dragon, a much more interesting tale, although, with a lower “rareity” than her own life quest, They decide to ban together for safety, but her seemingly simple task of delivering bread is, of course, not all that it seems. The tale stretches from there and the duo journey onward.

The narrator does a great job with the voice and inflections, but the dialogue itself seems to blend together. Every characters’ verbal personality has the same flavor, wherein lies the problem: the dialogue is grossly riddled with snarky banter, and I mean nearly every sentence is a verbal tit-for-tat. Initially it was funny, but that well soon ran dry when everything was a smart aleck reply. Over and over again with the flirtatious and down right rude banter just became too obnoxious for me. After a few hours in, I just could not stand it anymore and returned the title.

Final Thoughts:

I enjoy snarky characters, but when they all are that way the world loses the diverse flavor and just becomes sour in the case of sarcasm. If you can withstand such things or even enjoy it, I think this is a great series for you. Definitely a series with potential if only the characters were not all the same.
