I picked this up after finishing a real mental quest of an epic by Sanderson. I needed something casual and entertaining, and the reviews suggested that this might suit the bill. It did that, but also had real heart that ended up winning me over.
The beginning is very light, and not gripping, but that was OK with me because I appreciated the break. Later on, though, it wasn’t an exciting story that had me, but the characters that kept growing and changing just like people do in real life. By the end, I was tearing up as I sensed the coming close of the story, because I could tell how much love the author had for these characters. I loved them, too.
It was a privilege to be invited into his Mortania.
