This normally not the type of genre I listen to, but I had read (Kindle not audio) the author’s book, The Distance, and really felt it was well done. I have found a new favorite author.

I won’t go into any detail here as I do not want to ruin the suspense of the story for anyone. Suffice it to say, this is a well written book, action packed and never dull. But not tedious like some action stories can be but moves along at a great pace; I never had that “gee I wish this chapter or scene would just end” feeling. It is one that I had a hard time putting down. The time travel is no where near what has been written about ad nauseam in other books but a fresh new take. This author has an incredible imagination and writes very well. I was not a horror fan but ended up reading most of Stephen King’s work as he fleshes out stories and characters so well, this author reminds me somewhat of King in that manner, making it worth my time to delve into a whole new genre.

I will say initially the narrator irritated me and by minute three or four I was ready to return the book, but the story intrigued me enough to keep going and within about 20 minutes the narrator was fine. To me, it is narrated like a Film Noir detective. My husband LOVES this narrator as he enunciates and speaks clearly. My husband is very hard of hearing so a narrator like this is one he can hear. For that the narrator still gets 5 stars.
