Here we have another end-of-the-world apocalypse due to a virus that reanimated the dead. The virus started out innocent enough but people did not recover. Enter Dr. June Mannis who believed that there was some conscience or spirit remaining of the person within the infected body. She believed this so strongly that she could not let her daughter go when she became infected. This proved her theory to be both right and wrong. Book two follows the spreading virus along with June’s friend Dr. James Ung as he carries on her work. June’s work, now called the Mannis Syndrome is gaining traction and supporters. The books are not long but well written and fast-paced. Andrew Wehrlen does an excellent job as usual.
