So many of these lit-rpg books tend to have very predictable plot lines. This one felt like it would move towards what you think is the main point of the story, only to take a bit of a turn and head off in a slightly different direction. After a while, I really enjoyed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to figure out what would happen next. The story is zoomed into current events, but every now and then you get hints at something much, much larger brewing in the world, and I can’t wait to find out all about it. It feels like breadcrumbs will be dropped over the next few books for this. Very exciting.

I enjoyed the new main characters, and the shenanigans Hector gets up to with them. Good character development here. The narration was still great. Still smooth and easy to follow. There were a few times long lists of ‘abilities’ are read out, but this book stays away from reading the character stats like so many other lit-rpg books do.

All in all, another solid offering to the series. I’m definitely sticking with this one!
