Not what I was expecting.

Jeff Hays is the reason I bought this book, after listening to Dungeons Crawler Carl. I expected the deep, smooth tones of DCC, that is not this narration. Jeff Hays, if it really is him, does the “a bo’oh’o’wa’er” aka a bottle of water accent. If you like that accent, this is the book for you. I find it very distracting and throws off the story.

The story, as a whole, is alright and is a better read than a listen. The narrator saying BAM, POW, CRUNCH and screaming POWERFUL CHOMP is jarring to say the least. The “if you don’t like this bit, hit that skip button a few times” is condescending and unnecessary.

Overall a very underwhelming experience.
