I’ve never listened to a LitRPG before. The fantasy is a little wackier and more pop culture referential than I’m used to, but not overbearingly, relentlessly so like a Ready Player One. It’s lighthearted, but also violent and surprisingly morally complex. This first book by it’s nature has a lot of setup so I’m sticking with it.
The audio is unbelievable! It’s probably the best narrated/produced book I’ve ever listened to. Tons of distinct voices and voice effects without being distracting like a radio drama. I don’t know if I’m more excited to hear the story itself or to hear the story being performed.
