Maybe it’s just me. I started off really enjoying this story. It definitely had notes of RPO but still seemed to hold its own without feeling like a clone. But somewhere around the midpoint I just could no longer stay interested. It just became background noise to whatever else I happened to be doing. I kept having to go back and relisten because I couldn’t recall what had recently happened. First few times I thought, maybe I just need to focus more on my listening. But it kept happening, and got worse as the story went on. Even the ” exciting” parts toward the end just couldn’t keep me engaged—- and I really wanted it to. It’s possible I’m just getting burned out on these VORPG stories.
I’d recommend anyone to give this book a try based on how I felt about it starting out. Like I said, maybe it’s just me.
