not my cup of tea. probably not intended audience.

the concept and buildup is nothing particularly amazing. generic ultra reality VR which I like overall.

the characters quickly become very one dimensional, there’s a huge over play of anti bullying/”good guy always wins”, and nothing ever really challenges the characters. pretty much everything always goes the main characters way or if anything goes wrong it seems to be tangentially added to the story but not really doing anything to the plot.

the main characters quickly become Superman and that’s pretty much the end of any character development in the videogame parts. the ending and “irl” segments in the book set up some wired plot points but are definitely set up for more in-depth expansion later on.
