Story moves slowly. Characters come of as blah and don’t seem to be well thought out, which is also true for the story itself. It just doesn’t have any substance…or at least not the substance it deserves. What makes this story so much worse is the transparent interjections the author makes regarding politics. Ugh! I actually laughed at the commentary left at the end of the book by the author who wants the reader to know the book couldn’t be possible or make sense without making note of the political views of the made up characters. And those views are not necessarily reflective of the author’s own views. Ahhh, no. You could leave out the politics and it would not change the story. Or, you could simply use fictitious political figures as opposed to the real ones. It just plays out poorly making this book of “fiction” seem like a soapbox for the authors views. My point, along with a sluggish story and fairly empty characters…the politics ensures I won’t be reading any additional books in the series.
