Rachon promises to be an interesting, complex character but he’s never explained well and he always seems like he could be made an ally with far less effort than opposing him. That doesn’t create conflict though… ultimately this makes the eventual conflict feel artificial. I honestly think the author wrote his beloved D&D character into the book and the plot had to flow around this choice.
