Not for me, but really well written.

I want to start off by saying that this was well written and I know a lot of people love this title. I loved the voice actor’s work in this they did a really good job. I also enjoyed the lore of this world the author created, I felt that many aspects were well executed and my review has to do with one aspect of the story that kind of threw the whole thing off for me.

I ended up listening to 10 hours of this story and I just stalled out. I tried over and over again to finish it because there has never been a title that I have purchased that I haven’t finished. However, I just couldn’t come to terms with the relationship between Ox and Joe. I purchased this book looking for an LGBTQ+ romance with fantasy elements, but it just made me feel uncomfortable that the romance started when Joe was 10 and Ox was16! You spend a lot of time with both of them as they are children and kind of watch them grow up in your mind’s eye, and then as soon as Joe is barely legal they are raring to go. It just made me feel uncomfortable, especially the age gap. I really wanted to love this but I will be returning it for this reason.
