The narrator does a great job on the old women and some of the thicker Broguish it voices. However, the main character was kind of annoying. I’m not sure if it’s the narration or how he’s written. It came off as whiny and juvenile to me. He was also occasionally preachy and Gary-Stew-ish which seemed unrealistic to me. Like… you’re telling me no one in the history of modern medicine thought to give a Vampire a blood transfusion until this guy? Just seems very contrived to me.

The story was fine, I think there were a lot of good ideas that needed more exploring and some side quests that could have been cut out. The main plot was a little confusing at times. A few plot points were tread a second time and that was annoying also.

As far as the sex scene, singular by the way, the annoying MC made it very difficult to get through, I almost just skipped it.

Honestly not a bad book, just not for me. I liked the bit about how gender is optional in the Fae, and the Dragon lady was cool. Alan is fine as a character and David isn’t the worst, just a little annoying. The whole thing might be better in text, where more is open to reader interpretation.
