This story doesn’t take itself too seriously. In a similar light as the old video game Serious Sam. The audiobook version has the main character taking on a similar personification as Kronk in the Emperor’s New Grove. And yet there are some serious undertones, which do provide some depth. That said, too often I felt this was written for a more juvenile audience. The sexual Mom/Dad jokes more crude than funny IMO. Yet other jokes had me doing a literal LOL. So I have mixed feelings. I liked it overall and found myself immersed in the tale. Interesting and unique given the genre. Good for fellow gamers who experience the reality of trolls. Just not for everyone. Especially not for those who don’t get gaming humor.
