I like the book and the narrator does do i good job, but I have mix feelings on the MC. If you read Good Guys and found the MC to be too stupid, that’s how I feel about this character at times. The author tried to hand wave it by explaining it was a because he lost his memories, but two reasons why this doesn’t fit completely. He still somehow remembers video game stuff, and is blatantly told the correct information from his allies.
