So, originally got this one on special. I am a casual listener, while doing other stuff, and 4 hours into the book I was ready to return it. I reread the reviews and decided to give it another shot, listening a bit more carefully. This time around I figured out that the book switches between current story and the past without much of a transition, so the story worked better. I am sure that in written form the break is more apparent.
The story is OK for me, the characters as well, but the overall plot did not really grab me enough to want to know what happens in the next book. The magic system you learn about over time, still not sure who all the players are.
