This was an interesting read on a post apocalyptic society. The series was focused on rape, sex, human trafficking, drugs, and guns. There was more background on the types of guns and ammo than on character build-up. The background on humans being good versus bad seemed naive – people were either good or evil with no in-between.
The series did keep me interested, but not captivated. The performance reminded me of a grandpa telling a story (but not to children, obviously). It was dry, but I found it enhanced the story.
In this book, main characters were dropped without explanation. It left me hanging, expecting that more would be written into certain key characters, but nope. Nothing. If that was the intention of the author, then he achieved it really well.
