The first book in the series I thought was better. The second book had a lot of places in which the writing made me roll my eyes. Many of the conversations between people didn’t feel real and seemed contrived just because, well, they felt like they needed to insert a conversation. I also thought that the parts focusing on the scientists and military were boring and unrealistic as well.
