I was hoping for a 5 star story. Sadly I can’t give it that. If we were allowed to give 1/2 points; then this would easily be a 3.5 star. The basic concept is good. The world build is slow; but intriguing. I’m enjoying the character builds. I do like the fact that it’s taking it’s time to grow the story. I despise rushed story lines and character development. I’m looking forward to starting book 2 next. It’s more than a solid enough story to keep going with it. I’m glad I added the whole series during the big sale. Grateful to the person who recommended this series. It’s definitely a good story.

The dichotomy the MC finds himself in is a cool idea. A person trapped in-game with the system seeing it as a NPC. Some reviews are about people not understanding the MC getting into a relationship with a NPC. I don’t get this at all. Obviously these people have never played any mod-able RPGs. I’m a diehard Skyrim player. Most of the most popular mods are all about making NPCs sexy! IMO: 99% of male players would be banging every NPC they come across if it was possible. But write it in a book… and suddenly this doesn’t make any sense? lol Yeah… right.

Lot’s of possibilities appear available for the story to progress. The story went directions I wasn’t expecting at least twice. I enjoyed that immensely. The MC looks to be progressing to OP. But at the same time… I’m not sure if it will follow that path. Keep me guessing; and I’ll just get even more into the story. I’m not asking (or wanting) a drama mystery out of this story. So It’s not anything like that. It’s just the nice fact that it isn’t overly predictable… without being mindbogglingly complicated. When I want that; I will look for stuff in that genera.

I wouldn’t pay full price for this series. But that’s more because I won’t do that for any series. But if you can get this at a good price (or with credits), it’s worth it. The length is good. The pace is good. The performance is good. I did have to give it 4 stars. He does a good job of creating the different characters. There was some weird echoing in several areas. I don’t know what was up with the recording; and why it wasn’t fixed. That is the biggest complaint I have about this one. At 1st I thought it was my headphones. I then swapped over to 3 different speaker setups. It wasn’t anything on my end. I hope this was dealt with and isn’t a constant throughout the series. It’s not a definite deal breaker. But it’s annoying as crap. It definitely breaks the immersion.
