There are two kinds of series.
– One is like the Laundry Files. The first story is self-contained, and finishes. It wouldn’t matter if you ever read another book. While there are threads that continue, you don’t HAVE TO continue to the next. (Although I did. Bob is great.)
– And the other is where each book is like a section of a large “book”.
Star Shroud is the second type. It just finishes abruptly, with a cliffhanger. I do not like this type of series. The story is okay, but not enough to my liking to continue to the second book… which means that whole read was a waste.
