I knew exactly what kind of book I was getting into when I purchased this. It wasn’t going to be the usual KSR, ala “Red Mars.” I came in with an open mind though.
The content is rich in detail, which I also don’t mind in any novel. But there is such a thing as “too rich.” As in seemingly endless passages with detail that becomes excruciating and unnecessary. I found my mind wandering off to more important things, like what to have for dinner or whether I want to do laundry today or tomorrow.
Trimmed down, I think it would be a fine listen. The group narration is excellent.
