This book was very painful to listen to, and I only finished it because I used a credit. The author inserted the word “stars” for every possible curse word, phrase, insult, and for all ranges of emotion. I felt this was a lazy way of writing, and I wish the author was more creative with how the characters interacted with their surroundings. The concept of the story is very intriguing, but the characters and plot lacked depth. There were also many climatic moments with unfinished resolutions. I felt like major events were rushed and the transitions between moments were sloppy. I also wish they had chosen a different narrator. His voice sounded older, which in my opinion didn’t work with the young main characters.
