So I listened to the first book and I thought it was ok, not great. I needed something to listen to so I got this, the second book, and wow, no, just no. Another reviewer said they gave up when the dog’s inner thoughts were revealed. WTF? In what fantasy world does this story take place that now we are privy to the thought of Buster the dog? Umm, dear Chris Pike, dogs don’t have thoughts with words. That was a dumb move.
I also read another review that said this was a misogynistic book. I don’t know if I’d go that far, but the main dude is pretty sexist and not very likable. He was upset about taking on another person that needed help, I think her name was Amanda, because “we especially didn’t need anymore girls.” Wtf? He was ok with taking on Chandler because he’s a dude who was in the military and knew how to handle a gun.
Anyhow, this guy just kept getting more and more unlikable.
Kevin Pierce, the narrator, did an excellent job, as usual, and a n fact, he’s the main reason I decided to even start this series. Unfortunately, not even he can make me listen to the rest of this series.
