LitRPGs are a category I’m I really starting to enjoy so I jumped into this book without thought after glancing at the near perfect rating. Now I’m starting to worry if the LitRPG tag means something more than I have been led to believe from other series. The general concept is ok, the author did a good job setting up initial motivations and introducing us to the MC and his situation. However, I’m just about 12 hrs in, its felt like very little progress has been made and its been an onslaught of character stats. One particularly brutal segment was where basically his entire party leveled up and each person’s stats were detailed one by one, little to none of which felt important to know. Judging by the reviews I can only assume the book gets better later, there’s at least 3 major events that have been talked about so far, but right now this is like listening to a casual player play EVE Online. I’ll return sometime later but right now I’ve hit my limit of “this will get better” excuses.
