I have enjoyed previous J. S. Morin books in the missions series but I gave up on this one less than half way through. Esper is blundering through unimaginative scenarios with barely 2D characters that would be quite at home in some backwater 20th century town. Maybe it’s aiming to titillate teenage boys but I just found the gendering offensive. The performance is OK apart from all the villains with really bad English/European accents.
