The story started out with the typical zombie storyline- a few people trying to enter a site to get supplies, hordes of zombies, close calls and smashed skulls. I was pleasantly surprised to find the story started to veer once the trio meet a few strangers who lead them to a defended neighborhood. Here they try to figure out what secrets these people seem to be hiding and determine if they can indeed be allies. The trio have a group of friends back at their base and their friends safety comes first.
This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. Despite not listening to the first book, I did not have any issues getting into this story. This book ends with the main storyline coming to a conclusion, yet we have a reveal that leads us to the next book.
This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator and I would listen to another. I got into the story due to his great narration. The character voices were well done- including the females. He did not overdo the fighting scenes.
There are no explicit sex scenes or excessive violence. I don’t recall any swearing. If there was some, it was minimal for me not to recall it.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.
