Negative views of mental illness, medication and people in recovery.

My biggest turn off with this series is the author’s apparent lack of knowledge and/or understanding of mental illness and/or psychotropic medications. The fact that one of the characters is described as being “doped up” and needing her “fix” is sad. The author’s presumption that people without antidepressants and other medications will die off or kill themselves is absurd and shows a total lack of understanding of hoe mental illness works. The author should be ashamed of perpetuating such a negative view of mental illness. in addition, the author’s belief that a person has to shoot and fight to be useful in a community is short sighted. His characters in the end turn out to be vigilantes and implement their own view of “justice”. The author’s view of addicts as being somehow irredeemable is also sad and I’ll informed.
