Jokes aside, Dungeon Crawler Carl is one of my favorite book series, period. Not just in the LitRPG genre, but of all book series. On the surface, it’s a raucous, gritty survival adventure series, but the depth of character development, increasing plot depth and complexity only serves to create more than just a story about a man and his cat surviving the apocalypse. Matt has created a phenomenal story with a diverse cast of characters that gets you emotionally invested in every single chapter. Jeff Hays knocks it out of the park again this time and did you expect anything less? He’s a pro at bringing every character to life, even Samantha, the disembodied demon head.
