It’s an interesting story until the repetitious, drawn out descriptions set in. It could be so much shorter without losing anything. Lily Mayne’s Monstrous cycle was at least an original plot for me but I feel like I’ve read something very similar to the Folk cycle before.

I’ve listened to so many books narrated by Joel Leslie and now they all sound the same. His emotional span becomes very narrow after a while and most of the time he reads too quickly. Some variations in speed would really help with his interpretation. I always have to decrease the speed control. Thank god for that capacity. Most of the time he just sounds frantic.

I’m interested enough to read the next installment but I expect it will be pretty much the same.
