Or maybe Andrew Tell’s narration makes the writing sound more amateurish than it is. I actually have most of the Jack Stratton series in my Audible library–based on a couple of his other books that I really liked. I’m just sorry it took me so long to start listening to this series because I’d have returned them otherwise. I find Tell annoying–emphasis on wrong words, trying to sound excited where no excitement exists, over-emotional –I don’t know. He just isn’t a good narrator, which leaves me at a loss to comment on the actual content of the stories, which I guess are OK, but predictable and ordinary. I do like Lady the dog though.
