I’m still stunned by my love for this series and the awesome way the writers cover all kinds of challenges faced by the characters–past and present. In ‘Nix, Hell’s Ankhor Book 9’ Dawson wrestles with alcoholism, and Nix is wrestling with his attraction to Dawson when he’s straight. Or is he? Nix’s own past addiction is mentioned and how it led to his Hell’s Ankhor membership, as well as his work with others in Alcoholics Anonymous is mentioned. This book represented a credible way of covering the topic of addiction without distorting the spirit of the Hell’s Ankhor series. The writers are simply amazing while addressing AA sponsorship, sponsor-sponsee relations, maintaining sobriety during life’s challenges, and considerations for relationships with people currently using alcohol and/or other drugs. Consequences to drinking behavior as it applies to the motorcycle club are meaningful and a part of the obstacles confronted and resolved in this book. In addition, the asexual spectrum of sexual orientation is discussed within the context of the book’s storyline. I LOVE this series!
