I hastily chose this book out of my love of Ken Lozito’s other brilliant sci-fi stories. But when I started listening I couldn’t believe the poor audio engineering I was hearing. It was too distracting to the story. The narrator Jeff Hays reads this book with a raspiness that had the high end of the audio too prominent for comfortable listening. It was killing me. I first tried to turn down the high end on my car stereo with little luck. But then was able to finally somewhat enjoy the book when I tried switching to 1.25X speed. However this shortened the 430min of listening enjoyment to under 350min. A word of caution to potential buyers, listen to the sample before getting this one. It might change your mind on it. A note to Jeff if you read this, your character acting is amazing but leave the raspy almost whisper voice out of straight narration. You have strong voice without it. Did some producer convince you to do that voice for the narration? Uggghhh.
