After finishing The Witcher series of books I listened to a book I definitely didn’t love, so I was on the search for a new series I could get in to and, boy, was this a great find!

I had never heard of LitRPGs until I started looking around and began seeing it pop up somewhat often in the fantasy genre. I figured I’d give this a try and, as a gamer, immediately fell in love with it. To the point where I got excited at opportunities to listen almost the same way I would to play a game I was really enjoying.

The story is engaging, the writing approachable, and the narrator better than most. The characters feel fleshed out and thought out, There’s a lot of “x person said”, “I said”, “they said” — even for questions — rather than “x person asked”, “so and so muttered”, “they hissed”. This is literally my only complaint; and it’s a small one which is far outweighed by the unexpected humor, steady action, and heart found within the story.

If you’re into RPGs, or gaming in general; enjoy epic fantasy stories, and want to start on an audio adventure that will keep you coming back for more then stop reading reviews and pick this up — you’ll love it.
