- What made the experience of listening to Obligations Incurred the most enjoyable?
- The fact that Corvin corrected improved so much since his first novel. The first book was great but too much of the story was tied into gaming elements. The story really slowed down when Henry or Jason would talk about leveling up their various abilities and points put into various stats. Maybe in the printed version this appeared on a very easy to read chart but it really slowed the first book down. None of that happens here the author shows rather than tell and it turned a good first book into a great second book.
- Who was your favorite character and why?
- All of the characters, even the minor ones are fully fleshed out so I love them all except for the one that I hate but I hate her because she is well written so it is a compliment to Corvin’s writing.
- What about Jeff Hays’s performance did you like?
- He gives really good performances with distinct voices and even changes it up to account for different species.
- Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
- The final battle. It on a scale and scope that is so massive, a hour or two at least, but still intimate. It was really well done.
- Any additional comments?
- The first time I listened to this novel I didn’t know that the characters wouldn’t reach their destination until the end of the book and kept waiting for them to get there. This book is much more enjoyable if you know going in it’s the ultimate road trip. Don’t worry none of this means the book is filler, the opposite as everyone gets massive development even the characters that don’t survive the events of the book.
